Scorn not his celibacy
Scorn not his celibacy
For in truth he has loved more women
Than the famous Casanova
And in turn has felt the love
Of thousands in return.
He forwent the love
That produces happy families
And gurgling babies
And doting daddies
The feel and touch and chemistry.
But just as real he felt the love
When two souls mingle
All the better with no jealousy
With a passion that does not subside
But multiplies in generosity.
He forwent the one
To embrace the many
He eschewed the few
To be wedded to a nation
And love on endlessly.
Without forgetting all the pain he suffered
Or the loneliness
Being so near the sun that few can bear
The breath of reality
Consumed completely by cosmology.
It’s a bed of nails
Joyfully accepted
With discipline creating peace
Enlivening souls with innocence
With a love that never fades.
A love that never says goodbye
Because in truth it never leaves
But occupies a corner of each heart
And leaves behind a gentle fire
That defies the passing seasons.
A love that’s true
Because it’s universal
A love as wide
As the biggest ocean
That touches every shore.
So when time comes
To say goodbye dear world
The dear world loves him back
And joins him on his journey
To the Centre of the galaxy.
