Living life in the monastery
Living life in the monastery
The faithful marveled at his poverty
Taking no wife or wages
A simple habit through the ages.
But in truth he never was poor
He never lacked three meals a day
He never slept under a starry sky
He never lacked a coat in the rain.
But in rejecting riches he embraced
A joyful life of simplicity
Freed from worries and from greed
He only took what was needed.
He only took then left behind
What was surplus to his needs
Sharing what was over with the poor
The hungry and unheeded.
He walked so gently in Gods garden
Taking heed not to trample flowers
Sowing seeds that will last forever
That in time will bloom in Eden.
